Step 2: Install CotranslatorAI from the installer file
A. Installation process
After downloading the installer file from the button link in Step 1, double-click the file to start the installation process. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
Important:
- Do not run the installation program as an administrator. In other words, do not right-click the installer file and select “Run as administrator”.
- Do not change the file name extension of the installer file; the extension must remain as “.msi”.
B. After installation
When CotranslatorAI is launched after installation, you will be presented with a variety of setup options if you have not yet entered a valid license code or OpenAI API key into the software. Follow the on-screen directions to complete your setup.
For additional video tutorials and answers to common installation questions, please visit our Getting Set Up with CotranslatorAI page.
C. For existing users
If you are updating CotranslatorAI on a computer that already has a previous version installed, your OpenAI API key, program settings, and Prompt Library entries will all be preserved and ready to use after installation. However, any open tabs in the CotranslatorAI main window will be closed. If you are a CotranslatorAI Advanced user, make sure to save any open tabs using the File > Save tab to file… option to keep those AI dialogs.
D. Important note for Mac users
While many users run CotranslatorAI on Macs using Parallels, please note that CotranslatorAI is a Windows-only application, and a native Mac version is not currently available.
