Lately, I’ve been reflecting on the evolving dynamics between translators and LSPs, especially in the face of advancing AI technologies.

The big players might be banking on automation. But there’s a different, higher path for small LSPs and translators working in harmony.

Here are a few things I’d like to tell my small-LSP clients:

1. Don’t fear translators using AI.

Rather, be concerned about those not leveraging it correctly.

When the proper approach is followed, AI becomes a tool for better work, not a shortcut to mediocrity. This is our opportunity to outshine the Localization Illuminati by delivering quality that machines alone can’t achieve.

2. There’s a tremendous potential for collaboration between translators and small LSPs.

By working together, we can open up new markets by offering higher quality translations that are both faster and more affordable. Lower rates don’t have to mean lower earnings; they can translate to more work done efficiently with the right techniques and tools.

3. Believing in our ability to provide superior work is crucial.

Clients will only value excellence if they can see and appreciate the difference. Our task is to demonstrate how AI workflows, like the Generative AI Iterative Translation (GAIT) Workflow and the Generative AI Iterative MTPE (GAIM) Workflow championed at CotranslatorAI, deliver not just quicker but also superior translations.

It’s about going back to our passion for translating while adapting to new skills.

Let’s ensure this distinction is clear.

Here’s to embracing AI the right way and seizing the future of translation!
