CotranslatorAI’s keyboard shortcuts copy the selected text to the Windows clipboard and then transfers it into the Segment or Ad-hoc Prompt fields in the CotranslatorAI main window. After you run a keyboard shortcut, CotranslatorAI sends the Ctrl+C sequence to the active application in order to copy the selected text to the clipboard and then waits a set number of milliseconds for the text to be placed on the clipboard.
However, sometimes the active application fails to process Ctrl+C correctly because it is busy doing something else, experiences interference from various Windows background processes, or because Windows fails to deliver the Ctrl+C sequence correctly. In such cases, the letter “c” appears instead of the selected text or a warning message tells you that the selected text has changed as CotranslatorAI attempts to paste the AI response into the window.
If you are seeing this issue happen often, we recommend that in CotranslatorAI, you first go to the General tab in the Options window (Tools > Options) and make sure the value for “Clipboard copy timeout when using keyboard shortcuts (milliseconds):” is at least 1,250. If you’re using an older computer and/or processing large blocks of text at once through the keyboard shortcuts, consider increasing the value to 2,000.
If the issue persists even after adjusting the timeout value above, please submit a support request below, attaching the log files as instructed.
