Hello fellow translation tacticians,
Ever hit a keyboard shortcut in CotranslatorAI and get… nothing?
No error. No output. No feedback at all.
Before you assume something’s broken, here are the two usual suspects that stop CotranslatorAI from responding to your keystrokes.
First, a shortcut conflict.
Other tools like Trados, another CAT platform, or even Windows might already be using that keystroke.
Fix: Open CotranslatorAI, go to Tools > Keyboard Shortcuts, and click Customize next to the non-responding keyboard shortcut. Swap out any conflicted keys for something clean and unused.
Takes seconds, prevents headaches.
Second, the prompt library issue.
If you’ve recently added prompt files to your CotranslatorAI prompt library using Windows Explorer, your shortcuts won’t work until you refresh things.
Fix: Right-click the CotranslatorAI Companion icon in the Windows tasktray and select Reload keyboard shortcuts…. That syncs everything up again.
Quick tip: Every time you add or update prompts in the library through Windows Explorer, do a reload. It’s like flipping the lights back on.
For more workflow tips, hit the Documentation menu on CotranslatorAI.com. And if you’re using a paid version, you’ve got bonus tools waiting inside the Power User Resources area, which you can access through the Login button on the website.
Talk soon,
Steven
