The one-pass QC prompt that catches what you missed – 1 September 2026 (AI Mastery for Translators Insights)

In today’s edition:

  1. You asked for a shorter CotranslatorAI subscription… We listened.
  2. The one-pass QC prompt that catches what you missed
  3. Put your best prompts one click away in CotranslatorAI

You asked for a shorter CotranslatorAI subscription… We listened.

We’ve received many requests for a shorter CotranslatorAI subscription period.

We also realized that our 15-day free trial did not always give you enough time to explore the support resources, implement the workflows, and experience the resulting productivity gains before deciding whether to continue for a full-year.

So, we listened.

The new Three-Month CotranslatorAI Subscription Bundle gives you three months of access to our most powerful edition for just USD $37.

We’ve also included the complete Translator-in-Command AI Survival Kit. It contains six practical tools designed to upgrade your professional capabilities and help you take charge of AI in your translation business.

This bundle may be a particularly good fit if you tried the 15-day trial but ran out of time, or if you want to use CotranslatorAI but are not yet ready to purchase a one-year subscription.

EFFECTIVE PROMPTING

The one-pass QC prompt that catches what you missed

Here is a prompt every translator should have in the CotranslatorAI Prompt Library, and added to the Favorites menu, ready to run whenever you need an extra QC pass.

For best results, paste your source and target together, segment by segment. That gives the AI the information it needs to identify mistranslations as well as language errors.

If you cannot provide the source, the prompt still seems to work reasonably well with the target text alone. In that case, however, it will be limited to checking spelling, grammar, typographical errors, internal consistency, and other problems it can detect without comparing the meaning against the source.

Here is my version:

You are an expert proofreader with a sharp eye for correct meaning.

Check the following source and target segments for translation errors. Look only for clear and objective mistakes in the target translation, including mistranslations, typographical errors, and spelling or grammar mistakes. Do not consider subtle nuances or matters of style.

Provide your results as a brief list. For each issue, give the correction and a very brief explanation in English.

Here are the source and target segments to check:

Pull this up from your Favorites menu in CotranslatorAI, paste your text beneath it, and run it using the latest available model.

How much text should you give it?

That depends on what you want from the review.

If you submit a short passage, the AI can examine it more closely. It may find most of the genuine problems, although it may also suggest some “corrections” that are not actually necessary.

If you submit several pages at once, it will usually identify only a limited number of issues. The advantage is that it will often concentrate on the more serious ones.

This is why I think of it as a one-pass QC prompt rather than a complete automated review. You are still the translator in command. You need to examine every suggestion and decide whether it is valid in context. (And you can’t throw your CAT-tool QC checks out the window either.)

Give the latest model a few seconds to work, then take the time to go through its response carefully. Some recommendations will reveal a surprisingly deep understanding of the text. Others will be easy to reject. And more often than you’d like to admit, it will uncover something you will be mortified to have missed.

That last category is precisely why this prompt is worth running.

It takes only a moment to launch, helps you deliver better work, and reduces the chance that something silly or serious will reach your client.

COTRANSLATORAI TIP

Put your best prompts one click away in CotranslatorAI

Now that you have a one-pass QC prompt to use, let’s put it somewhere you can access without interrupting your workflow.

First, save the prompt in your CotranslatorAI Prompt Library. Then follow these steps:

1. Open the Prompt Library and select your new QC prompt in the Prompts list pane.

2. Click the star icon in the Prompt Library toolbar. This designates the prompt as a Favorite and adds it to the Favorites at the top of the prompts list.

3. Look for the options panel that appears in the bottom-right corner of the Prompt Library window.

4. Leave “Show on the Prompt button list” checked. Your QC prompt will now appear in the Prompt button’s hover list, directly below the Recent prompts section.

That’s it. Whenever you want an extra QC pass, you can access the prompt from the Prompt button list, paste in your source and target segments, and run it with the latest model.

** For the full treatment of Favorites in CotranslatorAI, check out Section 5.1 of The CotranslatorAI Guide.

Small shortcuts like this are an important part of building your own productivity system in CotranslatorAI. The goal is to place your best AI tools right where you need them, so you can use them consistently without breaking your concentration.

Keeping the translator firmly in command,

Steven
